Fairness Ads!

Looking good is an important aspect of every one's life. But since when did the color of your skin become the sole factor to determine your beauty?
Why has fairness taken place of 'healthy n glowing skin'? Well, even a dark complexion glows if you take care of your skin.

TV is full of fairness product ads and the 'get fairer in 2-3 weeks' is amongst the best selling ideas in India. These ads nevertheless also attract criticism. I criticize them too.

The ads have a similar structure as follows:-

First, the gal is shown comparatively darker than her usual complexion.
They show that she does not get the required attention and thus becomes less confidant and depressed.
Then her friend is always the one who gets all the attention and is shown flaunting her very very glowing skin.
The gal is now advised to use the fairness product and the next scene shows her with glowing skin as if they have lit up a bulb inside.
Now she has transformed into a confidant and supposedly good looking diva who gets all that attention. She now has that unstoppable smile which combined with her fairer skin stuns every guy passing by. And then they say "aap bhi try karo".

Mahn! these ads are funny. Its sad to know that so many girls in our country are not happy with their complexion. In many families a dark colored female remains unmarried either because she does not get many proposals or the proposals she gets are such that she has to compromise/adjust some things.

My skin is wheatish and my mom and my sisters are way too fairer than me. I have got my dad's features and he has a darker skin. Few years ago i had asked mom that why do i have this color which does not match you or my two younger sisters. Then and whenever i kept that query in front of her she always said "This color is given to you by God,its God's color. Be happy!"

All those who do not care what their complexion is are brave and far away from that finger-pointing world. The world is changing and so is India and Indians. Our mentalities are maturing. In some years we will be mature enough to know what should matter to us. Many have overcome that discriminative thinking and many more will in few years.
All those who do not like their dark complexion and apply innumerable fairness products so as to look like those ad gals, end the torture to your skin n soul right now. Because beauty is in the way you live, the way you treat yourself(with or without chemicals) and the art of being healthy in and out.

Stars like Yami Gautam and SRK endorsing these ads is saddening. I love SRK but why that Men's fairness ad huh???? Fair and handsome??? really??
