     Pillai's Institute of Information Technology hosts a fest named 'Alegria'. It is a cultural fest full of energy consisting of sports events, dance competitions, art and design competition and many more fun events. This year with the help of many partnering organisations PIIT conducted a Farhan Akhtar Live concert.                 Since PIIT is my ex-college, I did my engineering from here, I was nostalgic at first and later listening to Rock On songs live from Farhan himself was a total knockout experience. I teared down the crowd and went closer and closer to the stage from where I could see him performing nearest possible to me. It was a total 'paisa vasool' show. His voice sounded so magical that I realized for the first time that he has a very unique superbly melodious voice.          On stage Farhan was like an energy packed college lad. Looking good is an important aspect of every one's life. But since when did the color of your skin become the sole factor to determine your beauty? Why has fairness taken place of 'healthy n glowing skin'? Well, even a dark complexion glows if you take care of your skin.       TV is full of fairness product ads and the 'get fairer in 2-3 weeks' is amongst the best selling ideas in India. These ads nevertheless also attract criticism. I criticize them too. The ads have a similar structure as follows:- First, the gal is shown comparatively darker than her usual complexion. They show that she does not get the required attention and thus becomes less confidant and depressed. Then her friend is always the one who gets all the attention and is shown flaunting her very very glowing skin. The gal is now advised to use the fairness product and the next scene shows her with glowing skin as if they have lit up a bulb inside. Now she has transformed into a confidant

We read newspapers, novels and academic textbooks. Sometimes a few here and there esoteric words seem difficult to understand. We have dictionaries at home and mobile phones but we cannot learn all of them. We need to google search some interesting words. Here they are! Thes e words apply to our day-to-day lives. If you want to improve your English you may have been advised to start reading a novel or read a newspaper everyday. And then you wonder that thats what you don't know. How to keep a habit of reading everyday? These are the following things which generally happen with a newbie reader: 1. Falls asleep as soon an uninteresting part comes u p . 2. When there are not understandable/complex sentences a newbie loses interest. 3. Not enough content at home. The s tudy books on the shelf, n ewspapers on table and moms magazines demotivate a newbie. 4. Lack of motivation. How to solve these common issues? 1. Start with a small sized novel/story book. Starting with story books is also not very tiresome as the stories finish early and keep you entertained. 2. Don't rush through the sentences. If you get confused, that may be because of a complex sentence or few unknown words. Go ahead and open a dictionary and search. For complex sentences, slow down and read again. Nowada

The super rich,high profile are all safe while the people on the streets ,local trains and malls die due to hatred and anger. In India, can we ever be safe? I had been to my friend's brother's marriage. It was a g o od atmosphere with 'shehnai' buzzing in ears . The st age shined with costly decoration accompanied with costly made-for-marriage tradit io nal clothes. Lets call my friend 'N'. So, on the D-day of N's brother she and her whole family gleamed with happiness. Since she is my childhood friend I have known all of her family and her personal issues. Because humans are super beings on Earth. When all the doors shut they open windows. When I run on the treadmill I count my steps from 1 to 100 for each leg alternatively. The motive is to increase my strength. This method successfully made me run 10 mins at a stretch which was a victory for me. I noticed one thing that whichever leg I am concentrating on for the count pains the most. It taught me a lesson for life that 'its all in your mind'. When we change the way of dealing with a situation we get the result no matter what. Never say " She wont listen. " or "He won t budge." or "thats not possible " or "i cannot do it". Think! think like a lawyer. Fin d out a nother w ay of getting things done. So, when the doors close and the room is dark. There is just a hint of light in the room. But its coming from a window. Go..run for it..for it may be your brightest ray of hope... : D

I have been waiting to watch this movie ever since its trailers on YouTube. Not because it had steamy scenes (:P The scenes were way to 'indianized') but because i like creative cinema. Director- Ajay Bahl This is a story of a boy called Mukesh who falls in a dark pit of illegitimate seduction and eventually gets thrown into male prostitution. (The poor boy enjoys it in the begining! :( )  The story goes at a slow pace and gives a reality wala feel. As soon as you get connected to the characters you realize how deep Mukesh has fallen and theres no way coming back. This movie can be seen in varied and wide angles. From a married 'aunti' to a graveyard keeper to a forlorn boy. Everybody tries to get out of their original roles. Some do escape and some just fall deeper. Not to forget the role played by Deepti Naval as a cameo. Every character has been given remarkable minute details. The fact that it is a well crafted movie should be given thousand applauds. Bu

Lilac Having a conversation with the shy waves, On the shore i stretched my hand. Testing its various reflexes,  I picked up a fistful of wet sand. A wave came, and took the sand back. I lost the claim, and amused with that feedback, color of my heart went Lilac. And at the time of my departure, a wave touched my retracting feet, as if asking me to retreat. It wanted to take back one more thing, life's turbulence, and claim a soothing presence.

Tarkarli is a well known tourist place with a very beautiful beach along Maharashtra's coastal boundary. Located in Malvan, Tarkarli resorts are housefull during on-season time. If we go a little ahead towards the interiors there is a small town called Devbaug. Devbaug is an island village because it is situated on a narrow stretch of land extending into the Arabian Sea. It has Karli river on one side and the Arabian Sea on the other. The place is serene with abundant natural beauty and provides tourists a perfect relaxing holiday. The coastline with fishing boats small and big, lined with coconut trees create a perfect coastal sight. All the Devbaug resorts are also packed despite it being a lesser known place.
