The Diwali Dhamaka and the unofficial launch of Auntmade

Image
I have been doing a lot of DIYs since past 6 months and most of them are worthy of posting. But as you all know blogs are fading slowly. They have been replaced by photos with a lengthy caption like that on Instagram. It does not actually give a lot of freedom in terms of expressing yourself but it just makes publishing your work so easy. I have been blogging since a very long time and I like the slow process of it. It takes time for you to write a read-worthy blog and a much longer time for it to get views. More than likes views matter more. The act of someone seeing your work is more important. Appreciation through likes and loves is kind of asking too much from your audience. You might just want to leave it to them! So here I am back to the old times when I would proudly write about my thoughts about converting waste into something useful. Diwali 2017 was a big event for Auntmade. We made lamps, oh my favorite! LAMPS!!!! The favorite part was...they were all sold more than wh

The Upcycled Good Quality Clothes into Floor Rugs/Mats

Image
Hello folks, Its been a long time since I updated this blog but that was because I was busy working with some ideas. I have come up with some really cool stuff. I bought some nice high quality left overs from various shops around in Mumbai and I decided to do something about it. Since these pieces of material are not very long and are of different lengths I decided to make something which can accommodate these materials. They are the material which are used for curtain making, sofa making and cover making and these are strong and of a very good quality. They have various patterns from Indian traditional style to very very simple and basic. So I bought some matching colored plain material for them to go with and I came up with Floor Rugs/Mats. If you want to buy any of these I have an Etsy shop Link: https://www.etsy.com/in-en/shop/Auntmade?ref=shop_home_edit

Yachad - Peace & Unity Chandelier

Image
WE ALL ARE ONE, WE ALL ARE CHAPTERS OF ONE HUGE BOOK CALLED LIFE YACHAD(our chandelier) IN HEBREW IS UNITY When the various colors of  Peace & Unity Chandelier come together to create an effect, it tells you that the world is incomplete without all the colors and that we cannot be ignorant towards some section of society and cannot have negative views about them because what seems natural to them is looked down upon and criticised. Because what may seem normal in the eyes of majority might be just a senseless tradition of SATI or it might be as patriotic as Nazi army but in the end it was unfair and against the basic rules of humanity. But traditons change, people change and as we proceed towards the future as human beings we realize that the human life is much more complex than we ever thought, just like the Universe where one end leads to another.  One part of Human Life is emotions, by the time we deal with the complex emotions like LOVE. Yes, love is not as simp

The Christmas Tree Project

Our very own Xmas creation! Christmas is here and I have a very exciting project to share with you. Remember how we collected all the waste available in the house and make something fun out of it? This is exactly what I did this Christmas but with a twist. This time I went outside and collected some tree branches, dried flowers and bird feathers. The result was amazing. Everytime I make something out of waste it makes me happy. This time it was more fun because it was my friend who made me do all this and helped me ideate and create this beautiful Xmas tree. We first went out and picked up: 1) tree branches 2) dry flowers 3) crow feathers Waste stuff in my Junkyard that I already had: 1) cleaned acrylic color bottles 2) waste tic-tac boxes and other small boxes 3) old out of use t-shirt

Hello all, this is made out of cardboard and parcel boxes. Step 1: Take a cardboard of any size as per your requirement Take parcel boxes(any stationary store will provide you  with this) Step 2: Cut the cardboard in the shape as per your favorite character or shape. Step 3: Cut the boxes in half and decide their places on the cardboard. Now paste them.   Step 4: Now color all of this with black or any color you may like. I used spray paint. Use it to keep light weight objects since the aluminium box can be fragile. This will make your room look cool and peppy. Try it!
