The Diwali Dhamaka and the unofficial launch of Auntmade

Image
I have been doing a lot of DIYs since past 6 months and most of them are worthy of posting. But as you all know blogs are fading slowly. They have been replaced by photos with a lengthy caption like that on Instagram. It does not actually give a lot of freedom in terms of expressing yourself but it just makes publishing your work so easy. I have been blogging since a very long time and I like the slow process of it. It takes time for you to write a read-worthy blog and a much longer time for it to get views. More than likes views matter more. The act of someone seeing your work is more important. Appreciation through likes and loves is kind of asking too much from your audience. You might just want to leave it to them! So here I am back to the old times when I would proudly write about my thoughts about converting waste into something useful. Diwali 2017 was a big event for Auntmade. We made lamps, oh my favorite! LAMPS!!!! The favorite part was...they were all sold more than wh...

The Upcycled Good Quality Clothes into Floor Rugs/Mats

Image
Hello folks, Its been a long time since I updated this blog but that was because I was busy working with some ideas. I have come up with some really cool stuff. I bought some nice high quality left overs from various shops around in Mumbai and I decided to do something about it. Since these pieces of material are not very long and are of different lengths I decided to make something which can accommodate these materials. They are the material which are used for curtain making, sofa making and cover making and these are strong and of a very good quality. They have various patterns from Indian traditional style to very very simple and basic. So I bought some matching colored plain material for them to go with and I came up with Floor Rugs/Mats. If you want to buy any of these I have an Etsy shop Link: https://www.etsy.com/in-en/shop/Auntmade?ref=shop_home_edit

Batman themed storage wall hanging

Image
Hello all, this is made out of cardboard and parcel boxes. Step 1: Take a cardboard of any size as per your requirement Take parcel boxes(any stationary store will provide you  with this) Step 2: Cut the cardboard in the shape as per your favorite character or shape. Step 3: Cut the boxes in half and decide their places on the cardboard. Now paste them.   Step 4: Now color all of this with black or any color you may like. I used spray paint. Use it to keep light weight objects since the aluminium box can be fragile. This will make your room look cool and peppy. Try it!

Origami Chandelier

Image
I wanted to make a chandelier for my lil brother. He is my cousin and comes home twice or thrice in a month. Whenever he comes he shows this great enthusiasm seeing the DIY craft work I do. He points out with his teeny-weeney fingers the crafts hanging in my room as if he wants them. This is how it looked like.

Origami

I took tutorials from a very good site known as http://www.origami-instructions.com/. This site gives origami instructions for each and every origami. Origami is an art form originated in Japan. It is mere folding of paper. It does not include glue or cuts. It is an intelligent form an art which is known to increase sharpness in humans. It has very well known benefits like increased mental fitness, decrease in depression and stress. Also it helps decrease anxiety. It can boost someones low self esteem. It is an essential craft for young children all over the world. It is more like a puzzle. Every fold is a link to other and without the use of scale a perfect fold is achieved. Learn this art, it will be a friend for life. Just remember that all you need is a square paper. Here are some of my creations. I was overwhelmed and very happy after seeing the result.
